Ms. Kelly and I are so excited about the new school year! We are looking forward to seeing old students and meeting new ones. Students and parents with questions or concerns about the program are always welcome to stop by or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance. It's going to be a great year!!
School rules state that students are to have cell phones and other electronic devices silenced and put away during class time. Students should not charge their devices during class time, and no ear buds or head phones should be visible. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with following this rule.
Some students taking GradPoint courses will also need to take an SOL test. The following digital courses have SOLs associated with them: English 11, Algebra I, Algebra 1 Part 2, Algebra II, Geometry, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, US-VA History, World History and Geography I, and World History and Geography II. Students will receive review packets to study from prior to SOL testing.
Fridays are mandatory and students are expected to be here. First Shift students will be here on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month between 7:20am and 11:30am, Second Shift students will be here on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month between 7:20am and 11:30am, and Club and Activities are between 11:30am and 1:00pm.
All students are assigned digital classes. Students who do not have a lab period this semester are reminded to keep working on their GradPoint courses from home!! You must earn a certain number of credits to be promoted to the next grade level and your Gradpoint classes are a crucial part of this equation. Students can earn up to 8 credits in the School year as well as 2 additional credits during Summer School, since the majority of these credits would have to be earned on Gradpoint we recommend that students put in an additional 3 hours of classwork from home every weekday in order to achieve this.
The web address for New Directions Gradpoint is http://ndac3480-ndac-ccl.v2.gradpoint.com. Please do not use Google or any other search engine to get onto Gradpoint since it will connect you to the wrong site. Student’s usernames are their first and last name lowercase with no spaces and the password is either 12345 or 123456. If a student’s name has been previously used by a former student their username will either include their middle initial or if that is unavailable, their Student ID number after their name. Students will be informed if this is necessary.
Examples: John Smith is johnsmith or Maria Sanchez-Miranda is mariasanchez-miranda
Please add a note about the use of this tool, along with instructions for logging in, so students can easily login.
For example: We will be using Microsoft 365 this year. Microsoft 365 allows me to create and collect assignments paperlessly. Students can keep track of what's due by using their email and Class Notebook. Students should login with their New Directions student account. Student accounts will be distributed the first week of school. Students entering New Directions during the year may continue to use their existing login.
